That's the derogatory term created by English-speakers
to denote Afrikaans people. Usually in the context of
kindergarten arguments:
E: Afrikhaner Vrot Bananer
A: Fokof Soutpiel!
(One leg in England, one leg in Africa, prick hangs in the sea)
E: Crunchy! (Not too sure of the origin of this)
A: Voertsek Rooinek! (Not red-neck as in USA, but Anglo-Boer war term)
E: Rockspider!
etc etc

Gatkruiper - roughly equivalent to "Brown-noser"

Rooinek, botterbek, spring oor die hek, val jou vrek, en sê jou ma dis ek!

I'm wondering what "rockspider" means now that I've run into it twice
in an hour on the net. I'd also be glad to learn what "gatkruiper" means
as well. Dankie.
Leuce:
Rockspider and hairybacks are Afrikaans spreakers. The word used the
derogatory, but in some circles it has become a jokingly affectionate name
for Afrikaans people (especially in places where there is professional or
semi-professional contact between Afrikaans and English speakers). In the
same way, some black people jokingly call each other "kaffer", with no
negative meaning intended. But just let a white ouk say "kaffer"... and
there's horses!
